Meet Clell

If you’ve ever been to a poultry show in Ohio, you’ve probably met Clell.  He found his passion for poultry in his early days growing up with 4-H and showing chickens. But he didn’t just stop there. Clell has been a trailblazer in the industry for decades – from organizing and judging poultry shows to implementing statewide biosecurity measures. He was recognized for his achievements in 2008 when he received the Ohio Poultry Association’s Golden Egg Award that he proudly displays on his mantle.

Clell’s favorite thing about the poultry industry is the numerous friendships he’s made across the country that have stood the test of time. He said he cherishes that he can go to any state and has a friend there.

Another thing Clell loves is mentoring the next generation of poultry enthusiasts. He loves the Ohio National Youth Poultry Show, which is the largest youth show in the U.S held every November. The show provides many valuable scholarship opportunities for the younger generation. For Clell, it’s not just about the birds; it’s about passing down a legacy.

When he’s not traveling for poultry shows or preparing for the Ohio State Fair, Clell finds solace in an unexpected thrill: roller coasters. He loves Cedar Point and his goal for this year is to get on the new Top Thrill Dragster 2.

His message for young people in the industry is there’s always someone willing to help you on your journey. You just have to reach out for help.

Clell is more than a poultry expert; he’s a cornerstone of the community, and a champion for the next generation.
