Cheese and Egg Waffles

Cheese and Egg Waffles (a.k.a. "Chaffles") by Ohio food blogger A Cedar Spoon are the perfect back-to-school breakfast! Filled with high-quality eggs, cheese and chives, these waffles are easy to make and freezer-friendly, making them ideal for those busy school mornings!

Ingredients

6 eggs, whisked
2 Tablespoons milk (optional)
1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese
1 teaspoon of your favorite spice (Italian seasoning, paprika or za'atar are some examples)
2 teaspoons chives, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  • Whisk the eggs and milk together in a medium bowl. Add cheese and stir. Add the spices, chives, salt and pepper and stir. Heat the waffle iron and spray with non-stick spray.
  • Pour one-fourth of the mixture into the waffle iron (or the appropriate amount for the size waffle iron you are using) and cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden.
  • Remove and repeat for the remaining batter. Serve the Cheese and Egg Waffles with chives and a drizzle of honey.

Notes

You can freeze these Cheese and Egg Waffles! Place them in a freezer-friendly bag and freeze for up to one month. Reheat them in the toaster for a crispy texture or microwave them for 30-60 seconds.
