Egg and Turkey Sausage Puff Pastry Pizzas
The kids will LOVE making their own personal-sized pizzas for dinner! A Cedar Spoon’s Egg and Turkey Sausage Puff Pastry Pizza recipe can be thrown together in half an hour using nutritious eggs and turkey sausage.
Directions
- Thaw the puff pastry at room temperature, according to the package.
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Place parchment paper on a flat surface and sprinkle flour on to help the dough not stick.
- Unfold the dough and use a rolling pin that has been sprinkled with flour to roll out each piece of puff pastry.
- Use a knife to score a 1-inch border on the dough. Use a fork to prick holes into the surface of the dough on the inside of the border you created with the knife.
- In a small bowl, crack two eggs and add 2 tablespoons of water to create an egg wash. Use a brush to spread the egg wash over the dough.
- Put the parchment paper with the dough onto a baking sheet.
- Bake the puff pastry for about 7-10 minutes. Take the puff pastry out of the oven once it starts to turn golden and puffs up. Let it cool for about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the turkey sausage, red bell peppers, cheese and then the eggs.
- Bake for about 8-10 minutes depending on how you like your eggs cooked.
- Remove from the oven and slice. Enjoy warm!
Notes
Use a frozen packet of puff pastries with two sheets to create two pizzas. Break eggs into a bowl, then gently place the egg on the pizza. This is easier than breaking the eggs directly onto the pizza. To reheat puff pastry pizzas, place on a baking sheet in a 400°F oven for 8-10 minutes, until heated through.
